Whitby Town have bolstered their squad for the 2026/27 campaign with the signing of experienced central midfielder Sam Kay from Pontefract Collieries.
Whitby Town have officially completed the signing of experienced central midfielder Sam Kay ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.
The midfielder makes the move to the Towbar Express Stadium from Pontefract Collieries, becoming the latest addition to the Seasiders' squad.
Manager Lee Bullock has been actively working to strengthen his team in preparation for the new season, with Kay's arrival marking a significant step in those preparations.
Kay brings a wealth of experience to Whitby Town, having built a solid reputation across several clubs during his senior career.
He initially began his senior footballing journey with Staveley Miners Welfare, where he quickly established himself as a dependable performer on the pitch.
His impressive displays for Staveley eventually earned him a move to Tadcaster Albion, before he went on to enjoy further spells with Cleethorpes Town and Bridlington Town.
It was during his time on the Yorkshire Coast with East Yorkshire side Bridlington Town that Kay truly made his mark.
After joining Bridlington in September 2024, he became a regular and influential presence in the centre of the park.
He played a key role in helping the club successfully retain their Northern Premier League East Division status.
During his tenure at Bridlington, the midfielder earned widespread recognition for his exceptional work rate, composure on the ball, and strong leadership qualities in midfield.
Following his successful stint in East Yorkshire, Kay more recently featured for Stocksbridge Park Steels and Pontefract Collieries.
He has now secured a move to the Seasiders, where he will be looking to make a similar impact under Lee Bullock's guidance.
Whitby Town have formally welcomed the midfielder to the club, wishing him every success during his time at the Towbar Express Stadium.
