Flamborough RNLI volunteer crews responded to five shouts between Friday and Sunday, assisting people and animals in need of assistance at sea and around the coast.
The volunteer crews onboard Forever Yibba (B-959) responded to a dog that had fallen over the cliffs, a boat requiring a tow, four paddle boarders in difficulty, a kayaker who had entered the water and was unable to get back onto his kayak, and three paddle boarders who had safely reached shore but were struggling with the conditions.
The weekend was a reminder of how quickly situations can develop at sea and around the coast. Flamborough RNLI would like to remind anyone heading out on the water to wear a suitable lifejacket or buoyancy aid, carry a reliable means of calling for help and check the conditions before setting off.
Dog owners are also advised to keep dogs on leads when walking close to cliff edges and stay well back from the edge. Dogs can become distracted or suddenly move towards the cliff edge, putting themselves and those attempting to help them at risk.
If anyone finds themselves in difficulty at sea or around the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
