Alison Hume has had her say on the government's ban on sales of disposable barbecues.
Sales of disposable barbecues have been banned across England, Scotland and Wales - and a fire minister appointed - as wildfires burn.
A blaze which spread to homes in Stourbridge in the West Midlands on the hottest day of the year has destroyed 19 properties.
Andy Burnham's described Britain as a "tinderbox".
Speaking on Friday, Scarborough and Whitby MP Alison Hume has drawn comparisons to last year's wildfire at Langdale Moor:
"It's really chilling seeing what's happening in Stourbridge. Nineteen houses destroyed. The scenes are horrible. Fylingdales' very much on our mind because it's almost one year to the day that it was declared a major incident, and I know that constituents in Scarborough and Whitby are nervous about this. So I was calling on the government to ban the lighting of all fires actually in public places, including disposable barbecues. So I'm so pleased and relieved that the prime minister's acted decisively and pulled disposable barbecues off the shelves and online platforms."
She says it's a good start but there's more to be done:
"It's not the whole answer, but it will stop unnecessary wildfires because people just won't be able to buy these wildfire kits really, in essence, that's what they are, and take them out and, and light them in areas which are tinder box dry. I don't think that most of the public realise how close we were to losing property and then with that, the possibility of losing human life last year. I mean, in certain areas, Robin Hood's Bay, and then as it was approaching down to Scarborough, it was, you know, a fraction away from, from going into a desperately dangerous situation."
