Whitby Town Football club has amassed a £20,000 shortfall in the first few weeks of the season.
Club Chairman - Ivor Homer - says the situation is challenging but says the fans and sponsors are really helping.
Ivor says there are a lot of costs involved in running the club.
The chairman is calling on local people to support the club financially by simply turning up to games.
The clubs gate receipts for the first seven weeks of the season were £16,000 while the wage bill just for the players was £36,000. The chairman says that to break even the club would need regular home crowds of one thousand people, which is almost double the home crowd for recent games.
Ivor Homer says the existing fans and sponsors are doing a great job, and he's calling on more local people to turn out to help the club go forwards.
Whitby are competing in a league which has some well supported clubs. So far this season Macclesfield have an average home gate of 2,652 people and Stockton, who joined the league recently, get around 1,059.
