Brass band fans in Scarborough are set for a rare springtime treat as a leading international band plays in the town.
Led by Dr Stephen Cobb, the Salvation Army’s International Staff Band will be the guest performers at the Citadel on Alma Parade in Scarborough on Saturday, March 29, at 7 pm.
The visit of the world-renowned band is sure to be a memorable occasion, enthused Corps Major, Stephen Noble.
‘We are excited, and honoured, to be hosting a visit from this wonderful band,’
‘If you love brass bands or are simply a music fan, you won’t want to miss out on this chance to hear them live.’
The concert will feature a broad range of music from foot-tapping marches to works combining multimedia and music telling the story of the spread of the Christian faith worldwide.
Making monthly visits to Salvation Army centres around the UK, the band presents concerts and leads worship and open-air meetings. It also regularly undertakes visits abroad to where the Salvation Army is active, including America, Canada, Switzerland, Japan and New Zealand.

Dr Cobb has been bandmaster since 1994. He is also the Salvation Army's Music Director for the United Kingdom Territory with the Republic of Ireland.
Before taking up the baton, he was the band’s principal cornet player.
Throughout the years, the band has appeared on national TV and radio and released many CDs.
Dating back to 1891, the band exists to spread the Christian message of the gospel through musical performance. It participates in most of the UK's major Salvation Army events and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in British brass including the Black Dyke Band, Cory Band, London Symphony Brass and the Don Lusher Big Band.
They perform annually at the Christmas carol concert in the Houses of Parliament.
Many band members are Army music leaders within their Corps.
Tickets, priced at £10 adults and £5 for children under 16, are available from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/isb-scarborough-citadel, or tammie.sephton@gmail.com
