Scarborough Athletic Football Club has submitted plans to amend its alcohol licence to include the clubhouse bar, aiming to enhance the matchday experience for supporters.
A football club in North Yorkshire could change its alcohol policy in order to improve the matchday experience for all supporters.
The licence of the Victory Bar at the Scarborough Athletic Fan Zone could be amended by the football club as part of plans submitted to the council.
The amended licence would include the clubhouse bar, which Scarborough Athletic Football Club (SAFC) would run on matchdays.
SAFC said it was hoping to make changes to the premises licence following a consultation and site meetings with North Yorkshire Police, the Licensing Authority, and other responsible authorities.
A spokesperson for the club said:
“Scarborough Athletic FC is looking to amend its current licence to include the clubhouse bar, which the club will now run on matchdays.”
They told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS):
“Scarborough Athletic aims to continue to improve the matchday experience for all supporters.”
The premises licence variation also aims to remove “certain ambiguities with regard to responsibilities and management controls,” according to plans.
This would provide for a “much better site plan, which is clearer to read and better defines the licensable areas already permitted for use”.
The changes would also “bolster, reword and increase the number of premises licence conditions and to define the points of sale for alcohol sales alongside fan segregation initiatives, and reduce the overall permitted licensable area, defined by the new licence plan”.
After a “year in exile” following repairs to the club’s pitch at Scarborough Sports Village, Scarborough Athletic FC played its first friendly home game of at the end of July.
The deadline for members of the public to comment on the licensing plan is Friday, October 16.
