Locals in Filey and Eastfield are being urged to share their views on draft projects and initial suggestions that will shape the development of their towns over the next decade.
The future development of two Yorkshire Coast communities will take shape this October as residents review draft projects designed to transform their local areas.
Town Investment Plans will tackle the biggest challenges and highlight the most exciting opportunities facing Filey and Eastfield over the next five to ten years.
Public engagement sessions will allow locals to view initial suggestions, discover how the plans are progressing, and share their thoughts on the proposed visions.
The first of the two events will focus on the future of Eastfield.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Council confirmed the details for the Eastfield session:
"A drop-in engagement event will be held at More Than Books Library, High Street, Eastfield, on Thursday, October 8 from 1pm to 5pm."
Council officials praised the community's involvement in the Eastfield plan so far:
"From your feedback we’ve gathered valuable insights on the biggest challenges and most exciting opportunities facing Eastfield over the next 5 to 10 years. Join us at a public engagement session to hear about our initial suggestions and share your thoughts."
Attention will then turn to Filey the following week, giving residents there a chance to examine the proposals for their town.
The council spokesperson added:
"A drop-in engagement event will be held at Filey Library, Station Avenue, Filey, on Tuesday, October 13 from 1pm to 4.30pm."
Organisers issued a similar message regarding the ongoing work in Filey:
"From your feedback we’ve gathered valuable insights on the biggest challenges and most exciting opportunities facing Filey over the next 5 to 10 years. Join us at a public engagement session to hear about our initial suggestions and share your thoughts."
Local communities will receive support during this process from North Yorkshire Council, the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority, and Mayor David Skaith.
Residents can now use these sessions to directly influence the initial suggestions.
A representative for the Town Investment Plans explained the importance of the upcoming drop-in sessions:
"This is an opportunity for members of the public to find out how the plan is progressing, view the draft projects and share feedback."
