More than one hundred new affordable homes will be added to the local housing stock across Driffield and Withernsea over the next five years.
Local affordable housing options will expand significantly over the next five years as more than one hundred new properties join the local housing stock across Driffield and Withernsea.
Twenty-six homes will be built at Poppy Place on Eastfield Road in Driffield, delivered by developer Keepmoat. Developer Vistry will construct a further ninety-seven properties at Hull Road in Withernsea.
The housing boost forms part of a wider ambition to increase the supply of affordable homes across the East Riding. The new properties will help local people access quality housing and support sustainable communities.
The developments will allow residents to remain within their local areas, ensuring families can stay close to employment, schools, and essential support networks.
Seventy-three of the Withernsea homes will join the rented housing stock. The remaining twenty-four properties will provide an affordable route into home ownership through shared ownership schemes.
The Driffield development will feature a similar mix of rented and shared ownership homes, which will offer greater housing choice and flexibility for local residents.
The Housing Revenue Account will fund the acquisitions. This ring-fenced fund relies entirely on council housing rents rather than council tax.
The financial structure enables reinvestment in existing homes and the sustainable growth of the housing stock to meet increasing local demand. Homes England provided additional grant funding to help finance the purchases.
Housing officials will allocate the finished homes in accordance with established policy once the builds are completed.
