Hunmanby FC will remain at their village playing fields after parish councillors officially rescinded a controversial four-month eviction notice.
Home football fixtures for nearly one hundred local players will continue without disruption after a controversial eviction notice was overturned.
Hunmanby FC officials confirmed the motion to evict the club from the village playing fields has been officially rescinded by the parish council.
The decision secures the future of the football club, which fields two teams in the East Riding County Football League and provides vital social opportunities for players, volunteers, and families.
A spokesperson for Hunmanby FC released a statement thanking the community for their backing:
"Hunmanby FC are proud to announce that the motion to evict the club from Hunmanby Playing Fields has been rescinded.
"We would like to say a massive thank you to Cllr Donohue Moncrieff, Cllr Benson & Cllr Pratt, all of the local businesses who supported our “Save Our Club” campaign, and everyone who liked, shared and signed our petition and supported our posts over the past few weeks.
"Your support has made a huge difference.
"This decision secures the future of football in the village and provides a much needed social opportunity for the players registered with our club, as well as the volunteers, families and community members who make Hunmanby FC possible.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stood behind us and helped show just how important this football club is to Hunmanby.
"Now, it is time to get back to what we do best.
"We are asking everyone to come down and support us this Saturday as our First Team take on Market Weighton Town, with kick off at 2pm.
"Our First Team will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season, and we would love to see as many of you there as possible."
Major disruption had been looming for the club after Hunmanby Parish Council issued a four-month eviction notice following a meeting on the second of September.
Club representatives were initially given until the third of January to vacate the premises, sparking widespread concern among players and supporters.
That decision was overturned at a meeting of the Parish Council last night.
