A North Yorkshire County Council task group says the number of 20mph zones around schools could be increased and existing zones could be made bigger.
A task group set up to look at the County Councils 20 mile per hour policy has concluded that blanket 20 mile an hour speed limits in residential areas of North Yorkshire are not feasible but reports that introducing new 20mph zones around schools and extending existing zones should be considered.
Councillor Stanley Lumley is chair of the Speed Limit policy task group.
The group are also suggesting that the 20mph policy could be extended to areas around secondary schools.
But Executive member for transport, Don McKenzie says introducing 20 mile an hour restrictions is not always easy.
Here is the full discussion at this weeks Transport, Economy and Environment meeting.
