North Yorkshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage following a fatal pedestrian collision on the A64 on the outskirts of Scarborough on Monday morning.
The incident, which tragically resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man, occurred at 6.39 am on , October 13, 2025, near the Merry Lees Caravan Park, situated between the Staxton (A1039) roundabout and the Seamer (B1261) roundabout. The collision involved a black Peugeot 208 car and the pedestrian, who is believed to have been walking a dog at the time.
The 67-year-old man sadly died at the scene, according to a statement released by the force. His family has been informed and are being supported. The police also confirmed that the dog involved in the incident was unharmed.
The driver of the Peugeot, a woman in her 20s from Bridlington, is assisting officers with their investigation, police stated. The A64 route was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene, reopening later that day at 2.30pm.
Officers are now urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist their inquiries. The police appealed: "Please come forward if you witnessed the incident, have relevant dashcam footage, or possibly saw a man walking a dog nearby before it happened."
