The Yorkshire Coast will get a share of an 18 million pound expansion to the opportunity area programme
The North Yorkshire Coast Opportunity Area scheme has been expanded for the fifth year in a row meaning more cash will be heading to the region to support young people and schools.
The government backed scheme aims to to raise education standards in Scarborough Filey and Whitby.
North Yorkshire's Director of Education Stuart Carlton has welcomed the new funding.
So far the scheme has helped to recruit 240 teachers to the area.
Stuart Carlton is director of Education at North Yorkshire County council he says that recruitment drive will continue and there will be other benefits as well.
