A new £100,000 funding pot has been launched to support youth projects, community groups, and charities across the East Riding.
Applications have officially opened for the Our Place – Youth Fund, a new financial initiative designed to provide backing for community groups, charities, and youth projects operating throughout the East Riding.
The funding scheme serves as a dedicated part of the wider Do it for East Yorkshire Community Grant, which is financed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
A total funding pot of £100,000 has been made available by the local authority. The money is strictly designated for initiatives aimed at benefiting young people within the local area.
Organisations looking to secure financial support can apply for general grants ranging between £1,500 and £5,000 per group. Furthermore, funding of up to £10,000 is available for those undertaking small capital projects.
The council has outlined that the primary aim of the financial injection is to support new or additional activities designed around the five core pillars of youth work.
According to the funding guidelines, these pillars are defined as being educative, expressive, participative, inclusive, and empowering. The authority states that these five pillars are essential in guiding how youth workers build relationships, create valuable learning opportunities, and support the overall development of young people.
The Youth Fund aligns closely with the broader youth agenda of East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The financial support is specifically focused on initiatives targeted at children and young people aged between 10 and 19 years old.
In addition, the age criteria is extended up to 25 years old for young people who are care leavers, as well as those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The local authority has issued a specific call for projects that are scheduled to run from Tuesday the 1st of September 2026 through to Wednesday the 30th of June 2027. The grants are targeted exclusively at youth-related initiatives and organisations that actively work with or support young people.
A wide variety of local entities are eligible to submit an application for the funding pot. The council has confirmed that constituted voluntary and community groups, registered charities, and not-for-profit companies can apply.
Additionally, community interest companies, dedicated youth groups, and faith-based organisations are also eligible to seek financial backing from the scheme.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council Leader, Councillor Anne Handley, said:
"We’re proud to support communities across the East Riding, and the fantastic work that local organisations undertake to support youth people in their local area. We highly encourage interested organisations to find out more and get involved if they can."
The deadline for organisations to submit their applications is set for noon on Monday the 13th of July.
Further information regarding the scheme and the application process can be found on the East Riding of Yorkshire Council website. The council has also provided dedicated contact points for those requiring assistance.
Any questions concerning the applications themselves can be directed to Helen Jones-Brown via email, while queries regarding the grant application system should be sent to the external funding team.
Additionally, groups seeking advice or guidance about setting up as an organisation, establishing appropriate governance such as constitutions, risk assessments, and safeguarding policies, or running events and securing licenses, are encouraged to visit the How To Do It For East Yorkshire website at https://www.eastriding.gov.uk/council/grants-and-funding/our-place-youth-fund/
