Motorists will park for free in council-run pay and display car parks on Remembrance Sunday.
The fee suspension will allow residents to attend memorial services and parades without paying to leave their vehicles.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council confirmed the waiver for all its off-street pay and display locations to remove potential barriers for those wishing to pay their respects.
The initiative is designed to support communities coming together to honour the armed forces, veterans, and those who have lost their lives in conflict.
Pay and display machines in the affected car parks will be covered or will display clear signage to let motorists know that payment is not required during the memorial day.
Despite the suspension of financial charges, officials have reminded drivers that all other parking regulations will remain fully in force throughout the day to ensure public safety and accessibility.
This means that restrictions regarding disabled parking bays, maximum stay limits, and parking in unauthorized areas will still apply.
A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council outlined the authority's commitment to supporting the annual memorial events.
They said:
"It is incredibly important that people can attend services and parades to pay their respects to the armed forces without the added worry of parking charges.
"This is our way of supporting these vital community events and ensuring as many people as possible can take part in the day of reflection."
Motorists are advised to check the signage in their local car parks if they are unsure whether the location is included in the free parking scheme.
The free parking applies strictly to the council's own pay and display car parks and does not cover privately operated parking facilities across the East Riding.
