Many carers have had to embrace technology for the first time during the Covid crisis, including those based on the Yorkshire Coast.
The pandemic has forced most of us to adopt new ways of working and in many cases to 'up' our technical skills.
That's also been the case for unpaid carers on the Yorkshire Coast, many of whom have had to embrace computers, tablets and zoom for the first time over the last year to access services and remote appointments.
Claire Robinson from Scarborough based Carers Plus Yorkshire says that while getting people tech competent was challenging the results have been worth it:
Many unpaid carers of have had to deal with increased caring pressures and less direct contact with their support networks.
Cath Simms, from North Yorkshire County Council's Health and Adult Services team, says that increasing carers IT skills has been crucial to enabling them to keep in touch:
