World-Class Cyclists to Race Through The East Riding For Tour Of Britain

Elite cyclists will tackle a gruelling route along the East Yorkshire coast and through the Wolds as Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain takes place on Friday.

Elite cyclists will race along the East Yorkshire coast and through historic market towns when the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men arrives in the region on Friday.

The gruelling stage three route will see the peloton tackle 1,612 metres of elevation over a distance of 194.1 kilometres on Friday, September 4th.

Starting at 10:30 am in Hull's East Park, the competitors will head out to the dramatic coastal landscapes of East Yorkshire, a region renowned for its cycling passion and enthusiastic roadside support.

Spectators will line the streets as the riders travel through Withernsea, before heading north up the coastline to Hornsea and continuing onto Skipsea.

A series of challenging climbs will then face the riders as the route turns inland to Burton Agnes.

The peloton will then navigate through Driffield before speeding downhill into Wetwang as the stage gears up for an exciting climax.

The race will conclude with a testing 16-kilometre finishing circuit in Beverley.

Riders will make up to four passages of the circuit, which finishes with a punishing uphill drag to the conclusion at Beverley Racecourse, with the winner expected to cross the line at around 3:10 pm.

Residents and visitors will be able to watch the riders arrive and enjoy the podium presentation at the Tour Village, located at Beverley Westwood.

The finish line village will host a variety of cycling-themed activities, including a live freestyle mountain bike show featuring world-class riders performing BMX stunts and aerial displays.

Families will have the opportunity to take part in cycle try-out sessions, offering a wide range of bikes and adapted cycles suitable for all ages and abilities.

Children will be able to build their bike-handling skills, balance, and confidence in a safe group environment on a supervised skills track equipped with ramps, balance beams, and slalom sections.

Thrill-seekers can also tackle the dirt factory pump track course and a freestyle airbag landing, providing a fun way to develop technique.

Cycling fans are being encouraged to check the official stage documents to find out exactly when the race will be passing through their local communities.

Organisers say further details, including a comprehensive list of road closures, spectator guidance, and rider information, will be updated online as the event approaches.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council Leader, Councillor Anne Handley, said:
