Two of our local football sides will face each other in a national competition later this month.
It's a Yorkshire Coast derby in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy.
Bridlington Town will host Whitby Town on Saturday 26th September.
There are plenty of links between the two clubs, blues assistant boss Denny Ingram previously managed at Queensgate, with Whitby left-wing-back Stan Hewitt and midfielder Sam Kay both being former Brid players.
The last time the sides met in a competitive league fixture was at Whitby's Turnbull Ground on 27th December 2004 when the Blues beat Brid 1-0 as Dave McTiernan scored.
However, they did meet at Queensgate in the 2009/10 FA Cup First Qualifying Round with the same result- Liam Gildea with the goal.
The winners will receive £2,450 and a place in the First Round proper, while the losing team will take home a consolation prize of £625.
Sixteen Northern Premier League sides from Step 4 currently remain in the tournament. They will now be joined by teams from Step 3 for this next stage of the knockout competition.
While the default date for all 64 third-qualifying round ties remains Saturday 26th September with 3:00 pm kick-offs, competition rules note that fixtures could potentially be moved in advance.
Advancement to the first round proper will see the successful club compete again on Saturday 24th October. The prize pot increases significantly as teams progress through the tournament, offering a vital financial boost to clubs.
First-round proper winners will earn £3,000, with the prize money steadily rising through the subsequent stages. Second-round winners claim £3,750, third-round victors take £4,500, and fourth-round winners receive £5,250.
The financial rewards continue to climb into the latter stages of the tournament. Fifth-round winners will secure £6,000, sixth-round winners get £7,500, and the semi-final victors will receive £15,000.
The eventual champions will claim a substantial £60,000 prize when the final takes place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 16th May 2027. The runners-up in the final will still secure £30,000 for their efforts.
Following the first round proper in October, the competition schedule is set for the remainder of the season. Step 2 clubs will enter the tournament in the second round proper on Saturday 14th November, followed by Step 1 clubs in the third round proper on Saturday 12th December.
The fourth round proper is scheduled for Saturday 16th January 2027, with the fifth round following on Saturday 6th February. The sixth round proper will take place on Saturday 6th March, leading into the semi-finals on Saturday 3rd April ahead of the May showpiece at Wembley.
