Amended Timetable & Cancelled Trains Between Scarborough & Hull This Week

Due to a 'track defect', trains between Scarborough, Bridlington and Hull are having to run at reduced speed this week.

This means some trains are departing earlier than normal, whilst others have been cancelled altogether.

Here's what Northern said about the issue:

Our trains between Hull and Scarborough are currently experiencing disruption.

Following a safety inspection of the track between Seamer and Filey, Network Rail has introduced an emergency speed restriction.

This is causing longer journey times and is affecting our ability to operate our normal timetable.

As a result, an amended timetable will be introduced from Saturday, 12 September, which we expect to operate for the following seven days while Network Rail continues to assess and repair the track.

We can still run trains on this route, but they will be altered:

  • We will run trains between Scarborough and Hull and between Hull and Sheffield. You will need to change at Hull between the two trains.
  • Services between Hull and Scarborough will have extended journey times of approximately ten minutes in both directions.
  • On Monday to Saturday, the 0639 Hull to Scarborough train will terminate at Filey and the 0815 Scarborough to York train will start at Filey.

We expect these changes to appear in online journey planners by Saturday, 12 September, but please check before travelling, including on the day of travel, as some further changes may be made at short notice.

We apologise for the disruption and thank you for your patience whilst we work to resolve it.

The effects this morning include cancellations at key commuter times.

From Bridlington, the 8:11 to Scarborough is cancelled.

From Filey, there's no 8:31 to York and no 8:32 to Scarborough.
