Merthyr Town held Boro to a nil-nil stalemate during a hard-fought contest at the Scarborough Sports Village.
The lack of goals frustrated supporters, though the final scoreline failed to reflect the true nature of the action on the pitch.
Boro boss Jono Greening insisted the result was misleading after watching his side create several late opportunities to secure a victory.
Speaking to SAFC TV, Greening said:
"Yeah, it should have been a few goals I think for both teams. I think they've had a few chances the first half and we've had two or three really good chances second half. But yeah, I thought it was a really good game, quite entertaining. We knew we had to start start well because they were a very good possession-based team, rotated all all over in the midfield. The wide left player who likes to keep out on the left, it was really dangerous, fast, can run with the ball, can go both ways, and the two strikers up top, lively, one of them was very very clever, drops into little number 10 10 positions and causes you problems. So, we knew out of possession, we had to be really good. I thought it took us a little bit of uh a while to get the game momentum. I thought second half, I thought we dominated the game. We've had a few chances to go and win the game, especially that last one in the last couple of minutes."
The Seadogs are away at Dunston in the FA Cup next Saturday.
