Yorkshire Coast Cricket Action

There were mixed results as Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington and all our Yorkshire Coast cricket sides were in action on Saturday.

In Yorkshire Premier North, Driffield Town crushed Knaresborough by nine wickets.

The visitors chose to bat first but were soon struggling as James Anson took 4/20 and there were two wickets each for Elliot Hatton and Jack Redshaw.

Knaresborough were skittled inside 39 overs for 127.

Town then sped to victory in the 16th over, with Redshaw making 60 and Alec Drury unbeaten on 55.

In Premier 2, Bridlington were beaten at Woodhouse Grange.

Brid chose to bat first but slumped to 194 all out, dismissed in the penultimate over, despite Sam Wragg's 61.

Grange had eight overs and five wickets to spare as they got home with three wickets for Russell Robinson and two for Casey Rudd.

It was a tighter affair at Folkton & Flixton in the same division.

Visitors Londesborough Park chose to bat first, making 234/7 from their 50 overs.

Harry Walmsley starred with 3/56 for the hosts.

Their reply saw contributions up and down the order with Tom Norman top-scoring with 54.

However, they were bowled out from the penultimate ball, 15 runs short of their target.

In Championship East, Malton & Old Malton are up to third after beating Goole by five wickets.

The hosts chose to bat first but were bamboozled by Adam Spaven and Matthew Webster who took four wickets each as Goole fell for just 110.

Malton reached their target with five wickets remaining, Shaun Harland top-scoring with 36.

Pickering are fourth as they saw off Cottingham by six wickets.

Kieran Bowes took 5/57 and Max Harland 3/42 as the away side were put in and skittled out for just 104.

The hosts then blasted to victory in the 14th over as Tim Whincup fired a 38-ball unbeaten 57.

Scarborough were well beaten at North Marine Road.

Highflying Brandesburton chose to bat first, piling on 282/8 from their 50 overs.

Hayden Williamson took 4/50 and there were two wickets for Archie Hammond.

Boro were then dismissed with 10 overs left, some 134 runs short, despite Taryn Moses' 51.

There was better news for Whitby who defeated Darlington 2nds, by 28 runs, in North Yorkshire South Durham Division Two.

Whitby were bowled out for 200 exactly, with the in-form Rhys Buck making 42 and Kai Morris 41.

Tom Steyert then took 5/40 and Mark Jackson 3/21 as Darlo were removed for just 172.
