A new musical written and set in Scarborough will have it's world premiere in the town tonight.
"Hannah - the Soldier Diaries" will open at Scarborough Spa later.
It's described as a powerful love story set in Scarborough during the Afghan War.
It features a forward from Ross Kemp and an almost entirely local cast.
Writer - Steve Wallis - is hopeful that the initial run this week could lead to bigger things for the show.
The brand new, original musical is described as having "a big bunch of eclectic original songs" and will be performed from 9th to 14th April 2024 at Scarborough Spa.
The Musical tells the story of two twenty some-things Hannah and Jack who during the Summer of 2012 met and fell in love and spent four amazing weeks together before Jack had to return to the Army to fight in the Afghan War.
Zoe Wright, a leading local talent and no stranger to the Scarborough Spa herself is cast as Hannah along with many more local talented actors and actresses.
The production will feature a foreword narrated by actor and presenter Ross Kemp, along with the D-Day Darlings, the best-selling female group to emerge from Britain’s Got Talent.
Steve Wallis says the story started out as an audio book.
