Hundreds of households across the Yorkshire Coast will benefit from tailored energy efficiency improvements designed to lower bills and create warmer homes.
Lower household bills and warmer living conditions will benefit residents in more than 500 homes across Scarborough, Whitby, and East Cleveland.
Tailored energy efficiency improvements will roll out to targeted properties following initial retrofit surveys. Depending on the outcome of these individual assessments, households could receive cavity wall and loft insulation, upgraded heating controls, and improved ventilation systems.
Energy-efficient lighting and thermostatic shower upgrades will also form part of the potential package of works, which are designed to significantly reduce energy consumption.
The upgrades will be fully funded by Beyond Housing, which is working in an established partnership with 0800 Repair, part of the PHS Home Solutions Group, to deliver the scheme.
Local community events will introduce the improvement programme to residents. Customers will have the opportunity to meet housing officers, project team members, and technical specialists to learn exactly how the work will be carried out and the practical benefits it will bring to their daily lives.
Kelly Betts, Project Leader for Asset Sustainability at Beyond Housing, said:
"We know that making homes warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient is important for our customers. This programme, delivered in partnership with 0800 Repair, is a positive step towards improving the energy performance of our homes while helping customers reduce their energy use and household bills. As we continue to work towards our goal of achieving EPC C across our homes by 2030, this investment demonstrates Beyond Housing's commitment to supporting customers, reducing carbon emissions and creating a more sustainable future."
The initiative will support wider efforts to improve the energy performance of existing housing stock and reduce carbon emissions. Specifically, the programme will ensure that all targeted homes achieve a Minimum Energy Efficiency Target of an EPC grade C rating by the end of the decade.
Households identified as potentially suitable for the upgrades will undergo an initial survey. Following this, residents will receive a personal appointment with a dedicated customer experience advisor who will explain the proposed work and answer any questions.
Once the tailored improvements have been agreed upon, customers will be provided with a detailed schedule of works and information about what to expect, alongside ongoing support from the 0800 Repair team throughout the entire installation process.
Lisa Coverdale, Head of Customer Experience at 0800 Repair, said:
"We're pleased to be working with Beyond Housing on this programme, helping customers benefit from improvements that will make their homes warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient. We're particularly looking forward to meeting residents at the upcoming community events, where our team will be on hand to discuss the proposed works, explain the process and answer any questions. With extensive experience delivering energy efficiency improvements in homes across the UK, we understand the importance of providing clear communication and support throughout the customer journey. By working closely with Beyond Housing and their customers, we're committed to ensuring the improvements deliver long-term benefits for residents and their homes."
