Nineteen-year-old left wing-back Stan Hewitt has joined Whitby Town on a one-year deal after leaving Bridlington Town.
Whitby Town have completed the signing of promising young defender Stan Hewitt following his departure from Bridlington Town.
The nineteen-year-old left wing-back has arrived at the Towbar Express Stadium on a one-year deal, with the club holding an option to extend his stay.
Hewitt joins the Seasiders after spending more than a decade in Hull City’s academy setup. He progressed through the youth ranks during an eleven-year association with the club, having initially joined in 2015. He recently left Hull City after the conclusion of his extended scholarship programme.
Before making the move to Whitby, the defender gained valuable senior experience in the Northern Premier League Division One East. This senior experience came during loan spells and a permanent stint with Bridlington Town.
Regarded as a hardworking and versatile player, Hewitt impressed observers during his time at Bridlington. He became known for his pace, his direct attacking play, and his ability to drive forward from wide areas.
Whitby Town manager Lee Bullock welcomed the signing, describing the nineteen-year-old as a player with significant potential. He noted that Hewitt becomes Whitby Town’s first confirmed arrival of the summer as he begins shaping his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Lee Bullock said:
"Stan is a powerful young lad who wants to come for the right reasons in that he wants to progress his football career by playing at a good level consistently.
He’s strong, fit, powerful and fast, and he’ll bring us good balance on the left-hand side of the pitch. I think the supporters will enjoy watching him.
He’s the first new official incoming of what’s going to be a busy summer."
Speaking after completing the move, Hewitt said that Whitby’s faith in him made the decision to sign a straightforward one.
Stan Hewitt said:
"Denny (Ingram) has put that confidence in me, and I didn’t have any questions over whether I was signing or not. I think it was a no brainer really.
Hopefully over the next season I can show why Denny and the gaffer have put that faith in me."
