Whitby Town will look to bounce back from a disappointing FA Trophy defeat as they return to league action against Lancaster City on Tuesday night.
Redemption on home soil will be the primary focus for Whitby Town as they prepare to host Lancaster City at the Towbar Express stadium on Tuesday night.
A return to Northern Premier League Premier Division action offers an immediate opportunity to bounce back from a thoroughly disappointing weekend display. The Blues were comprehensively brushed aside in the FA Trophy by Bridlington Town, a side competing in the division below.
The cup exit extends a frustrating barren run in the competition, with the club having failed to secure an FA Trophy victory since 2021.
Attention now turns back to domestic league matters. League form at home has been a significant challenge throughout the current campaign, with the Blues managing just a single victory in front of their own supporters so far this season.
A significant reaction is expected from the squad as they look to correct their home record and move past the weekend's cup disappointment.
Speaking to Whitby Town TV, assistant manager Denny Ingram outlined his desire to see a much-improved performance and emphasised the importance of league success and a big reaction from his players:
"Let's hope we get one on Tuesday because, look, the bread and butter was always the league. That was always the key. We've got to move on to Tuesday. We've got to start winning games at home. That's the big one. We've got to start giving our fans something to shout about. We've got the players. We know we have. We've got the players who can score goals. We've got the players who can create. We're looking for a big reaction on Tuesday against Lancaster at home. I keep saying it. I'm sure we'll get one, but it's now mine and the Gaffer's job [manager, Lee Bullock] to go away and re-evaluate, look at what's what, pick a team that'll get three points on Tuesday."
Bullock will not be on the sideline on Tuesday, Whitby Town FC released the following statement on Monday:
'Lee was admitted to hospital on Sunday morning due to a personal medical issue and is in the best possible hands.
'As such, Lee will be away from the dugout for tomorrow’s fixture with Lancaster City.
'In Lee’s absence, assistant manager Denny Ingram will take care of first-team matters.
'Everyone at Whitby Town wishes Lee a speedy recovery, and will continue to support Lee and his family through this period.
'Lee and the club would like to thank everyone that has offered well wishes so far, but also ask that people respect Lee and his family’s privacy at this time.'
