Bridlington Town will host Curzon Ashton in the FA Trophy first round proper this October, marking the first time in twenty-two years the club has reached this stage of the competition.
A historic home tie awaits Bridlington Town in the FA Trophy first round proper after the draw was confirmed on Monday.
The Seasiders will host Northern Premier League Premier Division side Curzon Ashton, marking the first time in twenty-two years that Scott Kerr's men have reached this stage of the national competition.
Progression to the first round comes after Bridlington successfully knocked out another NPL Premier side, Whitby Town, during the final qualifying round on Saturday.
A total of thirty-two ties will take place across the country, with Football Association officials confirming that the default date for the upcoming fixtures is Saturday, 24 October, featuring a 3:00 pm kick-off time.
Significant prize money is on the line for the competing clubs. The winning teams at this stage of the tournament will receive a financial boost of £3,000 from the competition prize fund, while the losing sides will collect £775.
Fans will see a definitive result on the day, as tournament rules stipulate that there are no replays in the first round proper. Should the match end in a draw after ninety minutes of play, the winner will be determined immediately by a penalty shootout, in accordance with the International Football Association Board procedures.
Contingency plans are also in place for potential weather disruptions or pitch issues. If the fixture is postponed, the match must be rescheduled and played within a strict postponement window, taking place on or before Thursday, 29 October.
