Whitby Town FC have thanked their treasurer for securing a much needed grant from the Football Stadia Development Fund.
The club say the money was secured by the club's Treasurer Craig Moth and will allow them to carry out a number of improvement works at the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground.
The Turnbull has been mothballed since November, however with the majority of clubs in the PitchingIn Northern Premier League now aiming for a restart in the summer, the club say the time off gives them the chance to carry out vital works at the ground.
Whitby Town say the money will be used for a number of projects..
"As previously revealed, the roof on the shed will be replaced using money from this grant but on top of that we also plan to carry out work on the pitch to improve the playing surface.
Regarding the pitch, we aim to begin with verti-draining the pitch in the next few weeks which is an expensive task. The remainder of the grant will go towards supporting groundsman Adam Bell with any equipment that he may need to keep the Turnbull pitch in excellent condition throughout the season.
Everyone at Whitby Town would like to thank Craig Moth for his fantastic work in securing this grant."
