Whitby Town midfielder Lewis Hawkins has declined a new contract offer and will leave the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Whitby Town midfielder Lewis Hawkins has officially declined the club’s offer of a new contract ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 season.
The decision brings an end to a notable six-year spell at the Towbar Express Stadium for the thirty-one-year-old.
Hawkins originally joined the Seasiders from Guisborough Town in 2020. Over the past six years, he has gone on to become a key figure in the middle of the park for the Yorkshire coast side.
During his time at the club, the midfielder earned significant praise from both supporters and managers alike, who highlighted his consistent performances and strong leadership qualities.
Whitby Town had included Hawkins among a group of players they had hoped to retain for the next season. The club had viewed him as an important part of their ongoing squad rebuild following what was described as a difficult 2025/26 campaign.
However, the midfielder has now formally informed the club that he will not be extending his stay on the Yorkshire coast.
Throughout his tenure with the Seasiders, Hawkins firmly established himself as one of the club’s most experienced players. He made regular appearances and played an important role both on and off the pitch.
As the departure is confirmed, Whitby Town are continuing their preparations for the new Northern Premier League season.
Manager Lee Bullock is currently reshaping his team, and further squad changes are expected over the coming weeks as the club looks to bounce back from the challenges of the previous campaign.
