The Blues had to be happy with a 1-1 draw that keeps them out of the NPL Premier's bottom four.
Both sides had chances with Shane Bland making some important stops for Whitby and Matty Tymon fired a good chance over the top, early on.
As the visitors grew into their clash at Hyde, they carved out a string of chances towards the end of the first half.
Mitchell Curry, making a first start since joining from Blyth, forced a save, with Lewis Hawkins forcing a tip over before Whitby had the lead. Layton Watts fired home a superb free-kick for 1-0.
The Tigers levelled eight minutes into the second half with Bland called into action more after the interval.
Tymon and Connor Smith came close at the other end, but it finished 1-1.
Assistant manager Jason Kennedy spoke to Whitby Town TV after the game:
This is the Coast is committed to providing a daily local news service for the Yorkshire Coast. We are a small locally owned and operated business which employs professional journalists and reporters. We do not receive any public funding or grants and we are entirely funded by our local commercial operations. We enjoy fabulous support from local businesses who work with us on their advertising and marketing campaigns, but the cost of providing high quality, well researched, fact checked local news coverage is significant.
If you appreciate what This is the Coast does, and would like to help support our journalism, please consider supporting us on a monthly basis today.
A small contribution from all our readers would really help support independent journalism for the Yorkshire Coast.
