The Blues had to be happy with a 1-1 draw that keeps them out of the NPL Premier's bottom four.
Both sides had chances with Shane Bland making some important stops for Whitby and Matty Tymon fired a good chance over the top, early on.
As the visitors grew into their clash at Hyde, they carved out a string of chances towards the end of the first half.
Mitchell Curry, making a first start since joining from Blyth, forced a save, with Lewis Hawkins forcing a tip over before Whitby had the lead. Layton Watts fired home a superb free-kick for 1-0.
The Tigers levelled eight minutes into the second half with Bland called into action more after the interval.
Tymon and Connor Smith came close at the other end, but it finished 1-1.
