The RNLI's George and Mary Webb Lifeboat is leaving the town for the final time this morning.
It's an emotional day for Whitby's RNLI lifeboat crew as the George and Mary Webb sets sail for pastures new.
The Trent Class lifeboat, which has been in use since 1996 has been replaced by a new Shannon boat - which is now on active service.
The old boat left the town at 08:30 this morning for the final time as it heads off to join the RNLI's training fleet.
Station Mechanic Richard Dowson says the new vessel is a great replacement.
The new Shannon Class boat - Lois Ivan - took over active service last week. This morning the George and Mary Webb will set sail for Poole to take on it's new role which Richard says will be a fitting retirement for the vessel.

Richard says the George and Mary Webb has seen a lot of service in it's 27 years on station.
The Trent class boat set sail from Whitby at around 08:30 this morning, Richard says there are some great vantage points for local people to wave her off from.
Richard says that after serving the town for 27 years the departure of the George and Mary Webb today will be an emotional occasion.
The George and Mary Webb is number 14 of 38 Trent class lifeboats to be built by the RNLI and has been involved in hundreds of rescues over her 27 years.
Trent class lifeboat was developed in the early 1990s and introduced into the RNLI fleet in 1994. It was the RNLI's first all-weather lifeboat capable of 25 knots and a range of 250 nautical miles. The Trent is fast and agile enough to respond quickly in all kinds of weather and sea conditions. She is ideal for offshore searches and rescues and has the power to tow large boats to safety.
The last Trent class lifeboat was built in 2003.

The Whitby RNLI crew posted photos of the departure on Facebook along with their thanks to everyone who turned out to see her off.
