Retired people in Whitby are being encouraged to learn new skills as part of a drive to combat social isolation in the town.
Retirees in Whitby are being encouraged to join a local group aiming to tackle social isolation.
The local branch of U3A is holding an enrolment event tomorrow.
Steve Bremner is from the group, he explains it's purpose.
The Whitby Whalers U3A group are holding an enrolment day at Whitby Pavilion from 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
The not-for-profit community group is dedicated to providing retired and semi-retired individuals with opportunities to learn new skills, revisit old hobbies, and forge meaningful friendships. As a local branch of the national and international u3a organization, Steve Bremner says they are committed to enhancing the lives of their members through a diverse range of activities, including arts and crafts, amateur theatre, music appreciation, and much more.
Steve says it's a great way to meet new people.
Steve says everyone is welcome to go along to the enrolment event on Saturday.
