A lack of performances at Scarborough's Open-Air Theatre this summer is being put down to a legacy of the pandemic.
The venue has staged 17 of its permitted 30 concerts this year. There were just two concerts in August and one this month.
Borough council cabinet member - councillor Jim Grieve - says the scheduling for this summer was complicated.
The lack of concerts in August and September was raised by Scarborough Borough Councillor, John Atkinson, at a meeting this week.
Councillor Jim Grieve said that there is work to do to ensure there are more concerts next year and says he wants to see the theatre stage a full programme of 30 concerts,
Councillor Grieve says plans for next year are already underway adding:
"Plans are already underway for next season with a number of offers being made to artistes for 2023. It is hoped to start announcing for next year fairly soon."
At the same meeting Councillor Grieve reported that attendances for the summer orchestra concerts at Scarborough Spa have also been below expectations, in a report to councillors he said:
"it is disappointing to report that attendances are low and not at anticipated levels. The Summer Shows are taking place in the Little Theatre at the moment. Razzle Dazzle is running three times a week and whilst audience numbers are better, they are still not at the levels hoped."
Councillor Grieve said there are a number of issues which he believes have contributed to the attendance figures
