The Scarborough Streets Festival is set to come to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday with a vibrant community parade featuring handmade placards and noisemakers.
The Scarborough Streets Festival is set to come to a thrilling conclusion this Sunday, bringing a weekend of vibrant entertainment and community spirit to a close.
Once again, the town will be filled with a diverse array of live music, engaging circus skills, and interactive arts workshops.
These activities are scheduled to take place across multiple dedicated stages located throughout the town centre.
Visitors and residents alike will be able to enjoy the festivities at key locations, specifically on Westborough, Aberdeen Walk, North Street, and Crescent Gardens.
A major highlight of Sunday's schedule is the highly anticipated closing parade, which aims to bring the entire festival together in a final display of local pride.
Charlotte from Arts Coven has been busy preparing for this afternoon's closing parade, working closely with members of the public to ensure it is a memorable spectacle.
Charlotte said:
"We are making things for our parade, which is happening at the end of the festival on Sunday at 3:30pm. And so there's lots of people making things like shakers and placards and flags and things for our parade. It's a celebration of the community. Our theme is We are Scarborough. We've had lots of different community groups involved, and anybody who's here at the festival and and around the town on Sunday afternoon can come and join in or watch if they want to."
The parade is designed to be highly inclusive, encouraging anyone in the vicinity to either participate actively or simply enjoy the visual and auditory experience as a spectator.
To ensure the procession is as lively as possible, participants have been crafting a variety of handmade instruments and visual displays.
Charlotte added:
"We've got lots of things to make noise, so we're making lots of shakers and drums and things, like as as demonstrated there, but we're also making big placards and things that sort of show off positive messages or things about that we want to celebrate about Scarborough."
The culmination of the Scarborough Streets Festival promises to be a loud, proud, and colourful celebration of the town and its people.
