That's the message from the lifesaving charity ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
The RNLI is urging people to use lifeguarded beaches on the Yorkshire Coast.
James Woodhouse is Safety Manager for the RNLI in Yorkshire.
He repeated the call with just over a week left of the summer break:
The charity’s lifeguards are trained to offer friendly advice and medical assistance when needed and operate on the beaches seven-days-a-week between 10am and 6pm.
There have been several insances over the summer months where the Yorkshire Coast's lifeguards have been called into action.

- Redcar
- Saltburn
- Runswick Bay
- Sandsend
- Whitby
- Cayton Bay
- Scarborough North Bay
- Scarborough South Bay
- Filey
- Belvedere (weekend only service)
- Bridlington North (weekend only service)

The RNLI say lifeguard recruitment has gone well this summer.
Lifeguards have been providing safety cover at a number of the Yorkshire Coast's most popular beaches since the early summer.
James outlined the roles they perform:
The RNLI's key summer safety advice to remember is:
- Visit a lifeguarded beach & swim between the red and yellow flags
- If you get into trouble Float to Live; tilt your head back with ears submerged and try to relax and control your breathing. Use your hands to help you stay afloat and then call for help or swim to safety if you can.
- Call 999 in a coastal emergency and ask for the Coastguard
