An RNLI Lifeguard in Scarborough has received an unusual reward.
RNLI lifeguard Edward was recently involved in rescuing a child from the sea at Scarborough's North Bay.
But while the rescue was in progress his Oakley sunglasses went missing.
On hearing his story and recognising the importance of sunglasses to lifeguards working on the beaches local eye-care specialist Sam Noble stepped in to provide Edward with a brand new pair of Oakley's.
Edward has this week visited Sam in Scalby to collect his new shades.
Sam said:
"I was happy to help out … the work of the Lifeguards is important to our community and being able to spot people in distress in the water, by having good polarised eyewear is important."
Edwards mum, Sarah, said:
"We’re all incredibly proud of the work he and his RNLI lifeguard colleagues do to keep our local beaches safe.
Sam of Sam Noble Eyecare made such a kind and generous offer to replace his missing sunglasses.
I really hope that her kindness is rewarded"
