Spanish Doctors for North Yorkshire GP Practices

Five Spanish doctors will be joining the NHS in North Yorkshire as part of a drive to recruit more GP's

There are signs that staffing pressures in the NHS in North Yorkshire are beginning to get better.

The county's Clinical Commissioning Group says the number of staff absent through COVID is lower now than it was in December, despite the NHS still following stricter COVID exclusion guidelines than the general workforce

Deputy Director for Primary Care, Lisa Pope, says recruitment campaigns are beginning to bear fruit as well.

Meanwhile, work to recruit more GP's for North Yorkshire's surgeries is going to see a number of Spanish doctors move to the county.

Lisa Pope says it's one of a number of tactics being used to cope with a shortage of GP's
