A new way of running Filey's historic aviary will be needed from April, but questions are being asked about whether it should stay at all.
Filey Town Council says it is talking to a number of volunteers who have expressed interest in running the town's Aviary.
The bird house in Memorial Gardens is currently maintained by the borough council on behalf of the town council.
But when the borough council is abolished at the end of March a new solution will be needed to look after the Aviary and the birds.
Town Councillor Gary Howgate doesn't think the Aviary should stay.
Councillor Howgate has questioned whether or not the council as a public body should have an aviary and is worried about relying on volunteers to look after the birds.
Town Councillor Mike Cockerill says that if a group of volunteers did take over the day to day running of the aviary there would have to be some safeguards in place.
Town Councillor Karen Hubbard says the scale of the task would need to be clearly understood by anyone taking over the running of the aviary,
Filey Mayor - Councillor Jacqui Houlden-Banks - says they are talking to a number of volunteers who have expressed an interesting in looking after the facility, but says if a solution cant be found then they have found a potential new home for the birds.
