Part of Seamer Road was closed earlier with delays being seen across the town.
North Yorkshire Police closed the road for a time on Friday morning as they dealt with what they described as "a serious road traffic collision" on Seamer Road in Scarborough.
The road was closed in both directions between Queen Margaret's Road and Westway at about 10:50am with motorists being are advised to find an alternative route.
The road reopened at around 12:20pm
Eyewitnesses report that the Yorkshire Air Ambulance had been at the scene, it's thought to have landed at Scarborough Hospital.
