Organisers of the Yorkshire Coast 10K run are looking for ideas about who should be the official starter for this year's event.
Last year, the honour was given to local Paralympic Gold Medallist Lawrence Whiteley.
Alan Whelan From Scarborough Athletic Club says they would like local people to nominate a person or group of people to start the race this October.
Alan says the idea is one of the innovations being introduced for this years' event.
The McCain Yorkshire Coast 10K and Fun Run is back on Sunday 16th October with 2,000 runners taking part in the main race from all over the country.
This year’s 10k race starts at Scarborough Spa at the earlier time of 9:45am with the first Fun Run starting at 11:30am.

The start event is being hosted by Paddy from This Is The Coast.
If you know an adult or child on the Yorkshire Coast who you feel deserves to fire the horn to start the 10K, alongside Paddy on the balcony at Scarborough Spa then you can nominate them using a special form on the This is the Coast website which you can find at www.thisisthecoast.co.uk/10K
The person you nominate could be a participant (if so, they can join a later wave of the race), or someone with no connection to the event or running itself but really deserve the opportunity. It could even be you!
