Hundreds of solar panels can be installed on the roof of a Scarborough school after the scheme was given the go-ahead.
More than 360 solar modules are set to be installed at Graham School, in Woodlands Drive, Scarborough, and will generate a capacity of 165kWp.
Solar Options for Schools applied for authorisation from North Yorkshire Council, but they said that the scheme did not need planning permission to proceed.
The solar panels will be installed on flat and sloped roofs at the school and will be of “a standard design and appearance, coated with anti -glare and proposed to run in rows positioned to the south and nearest south”.

Graham School is accessible from Woodlands Drive, which is the only public highway passing by the school site.
The panels will be mounted on a ballasted frame that sits on pads to protect the underlying roof membrane.
Solar Panels for Schools said that the visual appearance of the solar panels is considered appropriate and positive for the school buildings.
It added:
“There will be no impact towards neighbouring and residential land occupiers as there are none in close proximity or can see the proposed installation. Residences in the east are at least 90 meters away and behind the coverage of trees.”
North Yorkshire Council confirmed that the scheme could proceed on Thursday, January 15.
