Scarborough Athletic beat Spennymoor 1-0 in Bridlington, to climb to 5th in National League North, with just three games to play.
The double over playoff rivals Darlington on Good Friday and Spennymoor on Easter Monday means Boro now have a 3-point cushion in the playoffs.
Scarborough also have a much better goal difference than Chester in 8th, who lead the chasing pack trying to get into the playoff positions.
With Boro hoping other results might go in their favour, it was mixed elsewhere. Both Buxton and Darlington won, but Merthyr Town lost.
Telford had taken an early lead but lost at home to Kidderminster.
Boro's next game is another potentially crucial game away at Buxton. Although they are 6 points behind Boro, they have a game in hand and their other three matches are against teams in and around the bottom of the table.
The Seadogs' final home game, and last at Bridlington, is against Merthyr Town on Saturday 18th, which is also likely to be a huge fixture for both.
It may all come down to the final game of the season, when Scarborough make the long journey south to Bedford.
Before the kick off there was a minute's applause for one-time Acting Chairman and long-term supporter Tony Brown.
This fixture has ended in a draw the last 7 times, and 1-1 in all of the last 5.
The first half saw Scarborough create the best chances, with Richie Bennett going close twice, and both sides had shots cleared off the line.
Scarborough had the better of the chances in the second half and a Whitley kick headed on, saw Ste Walker in on goal. His initial shot was blocked by the keeper but he couldn't keep hold of the ball and Walker poked it in from close range.
The finish was the striker's 18th of the season.

Boro's keeper Ryan Whitley then made a brilliant save from a rifle of a shot, to keep Boro's lead:
Deep into injury time, Spennymoor had a free kick on the edge of the penalty area. Home fans held their breath as the potential for yet another 1-1 scoreline seemed possible.
But the Seadogs held on for another huge three points and will go into the game at Buxton filled with confidence, and hopefully more from the squad to choose from, with some players possibly returning from injury.
The win also saw Boro hit 69 points for the season, the most they've ever achieved since promotion to National League North. They hit 68 points in their first season, missing out on the playoffs with almost the final kick of the season.

Speaking to Paddy after the game, Manager Jono Greening said he was delighted with the win:
