Bridlington Town fell to just their second defeat in 14 matches but pushed champions-elect Redcar Athletic all the way on Easter Monday.
Athletic had already picked up the NPL East championship and have been promoted to NPL Premier.
Brid stunned the leaders though with the opening goal on 20 minutes.
Joe Pratley released a 25-yard piledriver to break the deadlock.
However, Athletic quickly levelled and led just before half-time from the penalty spot.
That's how it stayed with Brid battling hard at the back and coming close to levelling late on through Ben Farrar.
