Scarborough College says it's ‘Gig on the Green’ last Friday was a welcome return for large scale social events.
Parents, guests, staff and students all attended the first large scale social event on the Scarborough College calendar since the easing of social distancing measures.
‘Gig on the Green’ is a new initiative from the Performing Arts Department, intended to showcase the ‘best of the best’ of their Drama and Music students.
Around 500 people attended the celebration on Friday evening with entertainment provided by the College’s LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) and Music students. An eclectic mix of styles from musical theatre, rock and pop, public speaking and monologues/duologues featured and were warmly received by the audience.
Following the student entertainment, live music was provided by local band The Mixtapes. A selection of timeless classics rang through the air as guests danced the night away.
Refreshments were provided by the College Catering team along with Tonics Bar, Embers pizzas, Louise’s Ice Cream & Kinky Donuts and Scarborough Creperie.
It is hoped that this will become an annual event on the calendar and will be opened to the public in the future.
