Scarborough residents are invited to gather for the Scarborough Disability Action Group (DAG) Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is scheduled for Friday, 17th January 2025.
The Scarborough Disability Action Group (DAG) has invited the public, supporters, and members to attend its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) to discuss its ongoing mission of supporting local residents. The meeting is set to take place on Friday 16th January, with proceedings beginning at 2pm.
The event will be held at The Street Centre, located at 12 Lower Clark Street in Scarborough. In addition to the formal business of the meeting, the charity has confirmed that light refreshments will be provided for those in attendance.
Founded in 1989 by local disabled people, the organisation serves as a user-led registered charity dedicated to fostering "independence and empowerment". For over thirty years, the group has worked to provide essential advice on a variety of matters, including:
- Welfare benefits and community care.
- Transport and specialised equipment.
- Environmental access and leisure opportunities.
According to the organisation, their work extends beyond advice to include consultancy on environmental access and disability awareness training. They also manage the ‘Treats’ project, a human-centred initiative designed to offer free leisure activities to local disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
To sustain these community efforts, the charity remains responsible for its own fundraising and has stated that it "welcomes donations". The upcoming AGM will offer a chance for the community to learn more about becoming a member of DAG or exploring volunteering opportunities within the organisation.
Those interested in registering their attendance or seeking further information are encouraged to contact the group's office at 01723 480029 or via email at scarboroughdagoffice@gmail.com
