Scarborough Borough Council's cabinet is recommending a freeze in it's council tax rates for next year.
At a meeting this morning the cabinet gave their backing to the authorities financial plan for the next year which would see the Borough Council's element of Council Tax frozen.
Cabinet member Councillor Janet Jefferson explained their thinking.
The proposed freeze will now go out to consultation and will need to be approved by the full council.
It relates purely to the element of the council tax levied by the borough council and overall bills could still increase if other authorities like the county council, police and parish councils increase their elements.
