Some rural parts of North Yorkshire may need support from the county council to ensure they have access to electric car charging points.
The council has conducted a a study to identify how many charge points will be required in the county by 2030.
Executive member for climate change, Cllr Greg White says while most will be provided by commercial entities some areas may need council help.
Councillor White says the number of Electric car charging points that will be needed in North Yorkshire by 2030 is going to put enormous strain on the county's electrical infrastructure. He says the authority is trying to identify areas of the county where rolling out charging points and the required infrastructure might be problematic.
