The moorland fire is on an old army range with North Yorkshire Fire Service saying they are aware of "munitions in the area".
In their latest update, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said:
We are still at the scene and have 11 appliances, a high volume pump and argocats at the scene.
We are being assisted by crews from neighbouring services.
The incident is on an old army range and we are aware that there are munitions in the area.
We have precautions in place for our crews at the scene, but people may hear explosions. Explosive Ordnance Disposal are aware and are attending.
They also said local farmers and businesses in the area had been assisting and they were grateful for their help. But they warned people to keep a safe distance from the fire.
We are likely to be at the scene for some time. No cause has been established at this time. There is still a lot of smoke in the area so we would advise people nearby to keep their doors and windows closed.
Please avoid the area and if you’re nearby keep your doors and windows closed.
Locals have been donating water, biscuits and snacks for members of the fire service at Goathland Fire Station today.
We’re incredibly grateful for the generous offers of support whilst we're dealing with the fire at Langdale Moor.
Thank you for all your support and well wishes for our teams.
Please do not drive up to the incident scene to drop things off.
On Wednesday, the wind was blowing the smoke plume north. Stephen Harrison from Egton Bridge told Paddy At Breakfast that you could see it lingering over the valley:
People travelling on the A171 between Scarborough and Whitby have reported a smell of smoke whilst driving over the moors.
Extremely warm temperatures and a lack of rainfall are hindering efforts to control the fire.
On Wednesday it reached around 30C on the moors and today it's set to reach around 28C.
Earlier this week, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue shared this drone footage from the fire:
