Heavy snow has been falling for much of the morning leaving motorists stranded on the North York Moors.
North Yorkshire Police have appealed to motorists to avoid the A171 and A169 until conditions improve:
Treacherous road conditions in our coastal areas including A169 Sleights to Whitby is impassable. A171 Fylingdales is impassable. There is also lots of congestion and motorists are urged to avoid the area at this time and delay their journey until conditions have improved. Thank you and please take care.
Chris has been updating This Is The Coast since 8:00am and it's taken him four hours in a 4x4 to get from Fylingdales to Ruswarp:
