Scarborough Athletic Football Club players will face off against Scarborough Cricket Club in an annual Twenty20 charity match at North Marine Road this Thursday.
Scarborough Athletic Football Club players are preparing to turn their hands to a different sport on Thursday evening, the 25th of June, as they swap their football boots for cricket bats.
Following the success of last year's fixture, the two town teams are partnering once again for an annual Twenty20 cricket match at North Marine Road.
The football club's side, known as the Seadogs, will be captained on the night by Dom Tear as they step onto the cricket pitch to face the established Scarborough Cricket Club team.
A spokesperson for Scarborough Cricket Club shared their anticipation for the upcoming fixture, saying:
"Not long now until the battle of Boro as we take on our friends at Scarborough Athletic FC in our annual friendly at NMR."
The evening is being organised to raise essential funds for both of the town's clubs. Spectators are encouraged to provide a suggested minimum donation of £5 upon entry, with the proceeds being split equally between Scarborough Athletic and Scarborough Cricket Club.
Confirming the details of the event, Scarborough Cricket Club said:
"We're delighted to confirm that we'll be hosting our popular T20 against Scarborough Athletic FC at North Marine Road on Thursday 25th June.
There'll be a suggested £5 donation on entry, with funds being raised for both clubs on the evening.
The bars will be open on what promises to be another fantastic evening to support two crucial local sports clubs."
Gates at North Marine Road will open to the public at 5:00 pm, giving fans plenty of time to settle in before the match officially gets underway at 6:30 pm.
Supporters will be well catered for throughout the evening. The Pavilion Bar, as well as the stand side bar on the Popular Bank, will be open for drinks. Meanwhile, Debi's mobile catering van will be on-site serving hot food, including burgers and hot dogs.
In addition to the main event on the pitch, there will be further fundraising activities taking place. A raffle will be held during the night, with all proceeds directly supporting Scarborough Athletic Football Club.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase a piece of the football club's history. Author Steve Penny will be in attendance selling copies of his book, 'Home is Away – a season in exile with Scarborough Athletic'. The book will be priced at £15, and the author has pledged that twenty-five per cent of all profits from the sales during the event will be donated back to the football club.
Urging the local community to come out and support the dual-club fundraiser, Scarborough Cricket Club added:
"DON'T MISS IT .... See you all Thursday night."
