The incident in South Bay saw one 18-year old suffer injuries to his hand, with the other, also 18, suffering a facial injury.
Last night was Bonfire Night and the foreshore was full of people.
Along with a number of bonfires along the beach, there were large numbers of fireworks being set off from the sand.
Video footage shared online showed some fireworks shooting off sideways, whilst other clips showed people holding lit fireworks in their hands.
Other videos shared later showed emergency services arriving at the beach, along with a Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter which was attempting to land.
North Yorkshire Police earlier detailed the incident, which happened at around 7:15pm on Wednesday 5th November:
Police in Scarborough were called at around 7.15pm on 5 November to reports that a person had been injured by a firework on Scarborough foreshore.
On attendance they found that two teenagers had suffered firework injuries, one to his face and another to his hand.
The beach was cleared in anticipation of the air ambulance landing, however, the casualties, both aged 18, were taken from the scene by land ambulance and the beach was reopened.
Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and we are appealing to anyone who was present at the scene to get in touch if they have not already spoken to the police.
Please call 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room quoting reference 12250209389.
Scarborough & Whitby MP Alison Hume posted this evening:
My thoughts are with the two 18-year-olds injured and their families.
Fireworks are dangerous. Essentially they are explosives.
Please use them safely and look out for others.
