A retired North Yorkshire nurse speaks of her experience of contracting COVID-19
As Public Health England warn that people who contracted COVID during the first wave may be vulnerable in the second, one North Yorkshire woman has spoken of her experience with the virus.
April Martin caught COVID-19 during the first wave last year.
After self treating at home for two weeks April was rushed to hospital when she couldn't breathe.
April says she was fortunate to survive the disease and has thanked the medical staff treating her, who she says saved her life.
Six months on April says the disease is still impacting her daily life. She is urging everyone to do everything they can to avoid catching and spreading the virus.
Public Health England researchers say people who've had a previous Covid-19 infection may have some immunity for at least five months.
But they say people may still carry and transmit the virus.
The study also warns those who contracted coronavirus in the first wave may be vulnerable in the second.
